But as much as we adore the warehouse store, we have a serious gripe: It’s not open long enough! Costco doesn’t open until 10:00 a.m., which is too late for many people to visit before work. And stores often close before or shortly after members head home from the office in the evening.
Thankfully, a recent change to one of Costco’s key services can help you make the most of your Costco membership beyond the basic warehouse hours. Keep reading to find out the big change headed to Costco—trust us, you’re going to love it.

What service is changing?
If you’ve ever needed gas outside regular Costco hours, you’re in luck! In a recent social media post, Costco announced it’s extending its gas station hours.
From now on, Costco gas stations across the country will be open Monday through Friday from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 6 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.
This is a huge win for members—Costco has a reputation for being cheaper than traditional gas stations. In fact, Costco’s cheap gas is the reason you’ll often see long lines at its gas station. Hopefully, longer hours translate to shorter lines because customers have more opportunities to fuel up throughout the week.
What were the gas station hours previously?
Until now, Costco’s gas station hours have mirrored its store hours. While those vary from location to location, the hours are usually 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday. This schedule made it difficult for people with work, school or other commitments to save on gas at Costco gas stations.
Are there any exceptions to the hours?
Not all Costco locations are following the same new gas station hours. California and Hawaii, in particular, may have different schedules, though that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Many are opening even earlier to help you fill up first thing in the morning. (One Costco gas station in Honolulu opens at 4:30 a.m.!) If you live in those states, swing by your local Costco (or check the website) to find out when its gas station is open.
